That's a daylily (or hemerocallis), so called because each blossom lasts only for a day. Shooting up from under the flower into the light works very well here. The texture of the petals creates something of a "stained glass" effect.
Ooo we have loads of them in our garden at the moment, none as beautiful as that though. I keep trying to take photos of them but most of them are going dry and wilted before they ever fully open. Great shot!
