This is one of the strangest flowers I've ever seen, and you got a great shot of it. It's not a bird of paradise, but I couldn't begin to guess. The thumbnail definitely does not do justice to this shot.

Yeah, i had to call a few people, but it is a southwest version of it. this one's called the mexican bird of paradise. its in like deserts and stuff.

Lovely unusual flower - it's nice to see different varieties. Interesting close-up showing good details. The fan like butter yellow petals and the long colorful stamens. Are those buds that have'nt bloomed yet? This is a wonderfully festive flower and is sunny appearing on the red background with the complimentary thin yellow border. Maybe you could flip it so the flower would be on the right side out of the way from the icons? Just a suggestion. I think you've done very well in showing this beauty. Welcome to Caedes Jenny :*>
