....and wouldn't I just love to live in a cottage like this and I guess life was simple when these cottages were first built in 1820. The cottages are still inhabited and situated in Styal Country estate in Cheshire and are owned by the National Trust.

What a great capture! I love the simpleness of it and the balance of the image. Makes me want to say " Let's grab the bikes and go for a ride". The colors in the flowers really pop and the green folage makes it seem lively too. Thanks for sharing, Jodie

It is a great image Patty. but life is and was never simple.
It is just that we think we live at the edge of stress now, so those people in the past had a easy life, if we compare. Since those people did not know our lives, their stress was then at the max as well. Life is never easy, although it seems to be.
Sorry to sound like a teacher, this was not my intent.

Did we see another post of this same building Patti? I recall the one with bikes in front of it but a much different angle! ( I could be wrong..it has happened before believe it or not! LOL) I really like those old brick structures like this & the bikes do add to your capture as Jodie stated also! Nicely done Ms. Patti Fogz!! C):-) *

Not only is the photo itself well done, but the cottages looked well cared for. I'm curious about them being owned by the National Trust - are they rented out then? The bikes add warmth to the shot and am I seeing the walkway correctly - pressed stones? It's really nice, Patti! Now knock on a door and see if they'll let you photograph inside! LOL

yes Patty - it is just a walkway in front of the cottages and there are some more cottages to the left of where I was standing with a small road running between the two sets of cottages. ..and yes you have to pay rent if you want to live in one - they are not for sale. :) Here is a link so you can see the other cottages and quite a few photographs of some of the other places I have photographed myself, including the washhouse and scarecrows - the cottages are about half way down. http://www.macccam.co.uk/WilmslowStyal/QuarryBank0204.html

What beautiful brickwork! I love the old English buildings. They have so much character and charm. They are nothing like the crackerbox houses that dominate the scene in the US. Oh well, can't hurt to dream! Superb work, Patti.

What a cozy and comfortable feeling this capture brings Patti. It's well composed, the bikes are a draw to 'get out there' and the colors are great. Love all the flowers. Beautiful capture and glad you shared this one. Thanks Patti.

Yes, I too love the brickwork. The colors of the brick are so pretty not to mention the lovely flowers all around. The lady of the house keeps a neat place. The white window frames set it all off. Great capture.
