....while I was driving around Goyt Valley late on Sunday afternoon, I took a wrong turn and came upon what looked like a miniature version of Curbar Edge - I have since found it on the map and it is called Foxlow Edge. See the rockface and remains of the old building down on the left - that is where I found a gate and from there climbed up to this vantage point and along the rocky edge. On the road you can see a farmer heading home - I expect he will be going home to a Sunday Roast dinner. ps Does anyone remember the film and book with this title? - a little quiz - who wrote the book and who starred in the film? (btw it is before my time!!! LOL!)

The film was directed by John Ford, starred Walter Pidgeon and Maureen O'Hara and won the Academy Award for Best Picture in 1941. The film was an adaptation of the Richard Llewellyn novel of the same name, written in 1939.

Does this date me or not!!! LOL

Of course the image is wonderful, but I really like the framing. Nice and subtle, but it adds to the overall shot. Great earthy colors...thanks again!!

I googled it! Does that date me?...lol! The title of the novel is taken from its last sentence: How green was my valley then, and the valley of them that have gone. Film info

A very beautiful and pastoral landscape...it looks so peaceful with all the sheep grazing in the fields. You must be like me to take a drive with...I'm constantly stopping to take a photo...I'm sure I drive my husband crazy but he says he doesn't mind! :)

A beautiful view once again! I was going to guess Dr. Seuss as the author of the book..what do I know?? LOL If it wasn't a western I probably didnt see it Patti. ;) What a narrow road here..what happens if you come over the top of the hill & meet that tractor? Of course I'm sure you would make HIM turn around..cold dinner or not..and I bet the roast is mutton! LOL Nice job as always my friend! C):-)

Another keeper. Mercy, you sure have some gorgeous countryside. I can't get over the narrowness of that road. My gosh, what's that farmer gonna do if someone comes from the other direction? No one can pass. Captivating capture for a "Yank" to look at.

yes the road is very narrow down into the valley, but every now and then there are pull in points in the road, so someone has to be polite and give way and pull over or even reverse! lol!
