....I have always felt the living presence of trees, the forest that calls to me as deeply as I breathe, as though the woods were marrow of my bone as though, I myself were tree, a breathing, reaching arc of the larger canopy, beside a brook bubbling to foam like the one, deep in these woods, that calls, that whispers home! ....poem by Michael S Glaser

I too like trees. They're like old friends. Looks like you have a few friends in this post.

This is beautiful Patti! It reminds me of this song by Rush, one of my favorite rock groups.
------------------------------------------------------------

"The Trees"

There is unrest in the forest
There is trouble with the trees
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their pleas

The trouble with the maples
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light
But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade

There is trouble in the forest
And the creatures all have fled
As the maples scream 'Oppression!'
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights
'The oaks are just too greedy
We will make them give us light'
Now there's no more oak oppression
For they passed a noble law
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe and saw

"...here is the deepest secret nobody knows (here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide) and this is the wonder that's keeping the stars apart i carry your heart(i carry it in my heart)"

Love the two poems associated with this great shot, Patti. The one you found and the one that Larry put up as well. Trees are some of my favorite plants, and it's a good darned thing too, since I live in the forest. I like that fence with the double protection. I guess there's something that someone wants to protect on the other side!

The other portion of this post that keeps me here chewing your ear off and looking at it on the other monitor is the lovely, soft green of the grass.

All in all there is much going on here, more than first meets the eye!

:)

Lovely shot, Patti, and you're so right about the atmospheric presence of trees - though I might perhaps be a bit biased as woodland is my favourite kind of landscape too. :) So where is this shot? At the Roaches again? It looks a great place to visit.
