Taken at Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia SC. This is a fine example of a Shingleback lizard native to Australia. It's tongue is bright blue. Though mainly it is a herbivore it will occasionally eat small insects or carrion. Not what I would consider to be pet material but it is beautiful in it's own way. Thanks for viewing!

Wow, I see what you mean. I thought the head was at the bottom until I saw the eye at the top. Maybe it's some form of camouflage. Really neat patterning on it.

Wow ... what an amazing creature. I see what you mean by "heads or tails". You really can't tell one end from the other until you see the eye. A fantastic shot Eileen & thank you for the info on this lizard. Very interesting indeed.

Very interresting creature. Never seen anything like this before. Clever title as you never know until you view this in a larger version. Great Job.

I think he is quite handsome. I would love sometime to see that blue tongue but I realize he does not stick it out on command.
