This is the bloom of a cotton plant - the first step in the making of those jeans we all love to wear. I thought there might be some of you out there that had never seen one before. When the bloom dies, the cotton boll ( correct name ) will form that is white and fluffy filled with seeds. It is then harvested and manufactured to be spun into anything you may be wearing today that has cotton in it. Thanks for viewing and I do hope you enjoy this.

A beautiful blossom Eileen ... I love how you captured it's soft features. This is so new to me .... I didn't realize a cotton plant had any blossoms. I thought it just grew the cotton boll only. You can tell I didn't grow up in the South, though I have visited there. An excellent presentation & I learned something new today. I love my blue jeans. Thank you for sharing.

So thats where my Wranglers are grown!! LOL This is cool Eileen! I've seen the finished product before in wagons & etc., and the plants out in the fields but never up close like this! Really a pretty bloom they have! What time of year was this taken? Great capture of it also! Excellent clarity & I like the story behind it! I recall driving through parts of TX at cotton harvest time & the ground looked like it was snow covered! Nice job my friend!! C):-)

I like the look of the veins in the leaves. They are quite lovely. I have never seen cotton being harvested. Thank you for the cotton history as well. You are always great with describing your images.

No, I've never seen a cotton flower before and I'm glad I had the chance to see one because they are so pretty. I love the white petals and the green shade of the leaves and the plant itself is so useful to us. Your shot is so clear and sharp. I never would have known this was a cotton plant had you not said so. Thank you, Eileen.
