This is a section of the dirt trail headed towards the ruins which is about 1 1/2 miles ahead. This entire trail is covered with a canopy of these huge live oaks shown here with Saw Palmetto at the bases of them. Some of the branches streteched outwards up to 100 feet in some places. Quite a sight to see as I walked underneath them. Enjoy!

What Tigz said. Yes I faved it and it is awesome shot. Looks like something out of a movie scene. Lord of the Rings comes to mind. It is just to beautiful to describe. One must look at it to appreciate. Great photo.

Wow, so intense, kind of scary, those branches look like they will reach out and grab you. The green plants and trail, it all looks surreal. Also to my favs, you got a winner here.

Extraordinary picture, it is so well done. I really like the greens, grays, and browns. The brownish red accents very well, too!

I agree with everyone else ~ this is a dark & spooky scene. I really like how the tree branches twist & turn to form a canopy over the path. I also notice the path appears to split left & right ~ which way do I go? An excellent shot Eileen. I like this one alot.

Wow, what an image. Those trees almost look like they would wake up and move about if I disturbed them. The saw palmetto adds a nice highlight of green at the base of the trees. A most interesting sight, Eileen. It must have been amazing to walk there.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

One gets lost peering into that maze of limbs. The subtle lighting here certainly makes for a mysterious and menacing atmosphere. But I'm not too scared to sneak this one in to my favorites. Really quite a powerful image Eileen. Great post.
