This is the fifth in my Aspen series If you are very lucky, and Mother Nature has been kind enough to furnish the right amount of moisture and temperatures that are above freezing, this is the results. ASPENS AT THEIR PEAK! This is a very rare sight and is a photographers dream time. The yellow is so intense that it hurts your eyes just looking at it. The best that can be found on a good year are patches of yellow on a hillside. Maybe an Aspen grove in full color, But an entire canyon in it's peak is rare indeed. This beauty lasted only two days as the cold winds and frost striped the trees. A bit of trivia for all of you nature lovers. Did you know that a stand of Aspen trees are from one single tree. What its seen as more trees are the roots of the Mother Aspen.

Thank you for the detailed description here...I can only imagine how intense it must feel to be there in person...beautiful Robert and all the more so because of the rarity and brevity of which you spoke.:Pat.

Good morning Robert
These trees amaze me. Especially with the explanation you give. So far as I am aware, we have nothing like this here. Beautiful photo of a magnificent scene.

the yellow is so intense it seems to be reflecting off the grey rocks, tinging the evergreen trees, and making the grass yellow even if the leaves havent fallen yet. wish i could witness aspens that powerfully glowing :P

Unbelievably rich. It seems like even the grasses and undergrowth are affected by the color. Carl's right. It glows.

G'day Robert,
How glad I am that you were there on one of those two days! A unique scene I would likely never have seen or appreciated without your excellent capture. Great work.
