Just not sure about the HDR effects. I am not sure I am sold on them.... Good shot here though.

I took a look at the original, which was a very nice picture, and I do like this treatment much better. The picture now is warmer, a bit brighter, and the figures seem to stand out a bit more. Also, the trees in the background now have more definition when the brighter edges are high-lighted. For some reason, the HDR also straightened out the waterline as well. :) I think HDR can be overdone occasionally; but you utilized the utility to the best advantage here. Good improvement on an originally very nice pic!
