I shot this image for a couple of reasons. The first is the most obvious flight. The second was to illustrate how many gulls were fighting over the afterbirth from one seal pup. There are approx 20 to 30 birds tugging, pulling and biting off pieces. Sometimes when five or six birds have a grip on the cord and begin pulling the pup is actually pulled away. The cow has to step in and restore order.

Must be a fantastic meal for them if they are fighting that much over it. That is a lot of sea gulls. I don't think I see that many together unless some kid is throwing french fries at them.
