This is a picture that I took this past Winter. These Mergansers and a lot of Goldeneyes were in area. I am pretty sure they migrated here to the Great Lakes area from Northern Canada and Alaska...I did not see them in Spring and Summer. I expect they will be back again this Winter and hope to get some good pictures of them. I am trying some different framing.

I agree with Tick. I think it was having a bad hair day. Nice picture, and I like your frame with the title.

Well, Mr. P, you do get the most amazing animal shots, and this is no exception. Love the treatment of the water especially.

I love the glow in this image - it is a delight to view :) The Merganiser may be common but the talent to produce this is not :)

What an interesting little bird. Now I know what a Merganser is!
I like the framing, but maybe the font is just a tad too large.

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

WHY DON'T I EVER GET IMAGES LIKE THIS IN THE VOTING BOOTH!!!!!!! Why do I always get the camera-phone images??? I imagine the c-index weighting factor must bump up my ratings tremendously, because I never get to vote on beautiful images like this one.

Your subject placement is perfect. Your crop is perfect. The colors really snap, and your frame is well done. My only complaint is the blurred parts of the bird. They're distracting

Interesting looking duck, I've never seen one before. Maybe I'll get lucky and see one this winter. :) Terrific shot and the framing is wonderful.
