I am posting this picture of this Female Screech Owl poking her head out of nest box. You will have to look at this full screen to see her. It has me excited as will be able to see her young when they are born...probably in another week or two. I know she has been in this nest box incubating her eggs for over a week. The Screech Owl is one of the smallest Owls in North America...growing to about 9-10 inches long. They eat small rodents and insects and are truly noctunal so to witness them nesting is an honour for me.

A mistreated dog should try to leave a deposit on their masters best carpet, after all it's important to establish who's boss ... My gallery is here.

WHAT an honor Gerry - I remember a time when I went out in the middle of the night to sit under a tree in which I knew an owl was nesting in so I could see them hunt.. Can't wait to see what the future will bring for your little mama...!

One of the more interesting birds, I can't wait to see more of the owl. Very nice close up...nice textures in the wood of the nesting box. Good work, Gerry.

I guess she didn't keep her head out too long either. Nice catch, Gerry.
