In the late 1530's Henry VIII was under threat of war from France and Spain because he had divorced his Catholic wife, Catherine of Aragon. As a consequence, Henry set about the fortification of the whole of England's south coast...This photo was take from a very long distance,so the sky is not so great.I was at St Mawes, about 4 miles away.

Roger this is one amazing capture. The details are spot on especially since you took it from such along distance. I am a big fan of castles and you did a great job with this one.

The reason why the sun sets in the evening is because it wants to see the sunrise in the morning. I rise in the morning because I want to see them both. RvdB

Really good shot from 4 miles away. It seems like that castle was built on a very good place. Nice composition, Roger.

Some people have Gurus, I have my camera. Through the cam lenses I have learnt to deeply perceive life, not only to see, but to look at all expressions of nature, becoming able to read the poetry of the flowers, receiving the embrace of the trees and flying above the clouds without wings! - Susie Sun

Great job capturing this scene, Roger. A lovely view of the castle. You might want to tell them people off to the right to duck when the canon fires off a round.

The difference between a bad artist and a good one is: the bad artist seems to copy a great deal; the good one really does. ~William Blake

Hello Roger....A fine distant shot of the castle my friend...Just down from the castle there is a car park where one can view Falmouth harbour and St.Mawes...I often park up and take in the views with a nice cup of tea in hand....Well done....All the very best to you Roger.......Mick.
