This is my third photo of the moon taken with my Nikon Coolpix S9700 and hand held but you have to hold ones breath for some time,Yes I could have used a tripod but had to see if it was true you could get a shot with this camera with out tripod .Hope you like and find it interesting . .

Rog, that camera is doing a great job, bravo for trying for such difficult shot handheld, you and the coolpix captured the details so well, very impressive. =^..^=tigs

your getting better Giz, i like this one better then the first. i love taking pic's of the moon! its possible to do with any cameras, i done it with mine cheap point & shoot, a cell ph camera and my DSLR. its a day shot really, hard for people to wrap there head around the fact. your shooting a blob of light actaully.
bury the exposure on EV with a point and shoot. with a dslr 1/80 @ f8-9 depending on the phrase of the moon, i got great results with 1/125 at f14 as well. 1/80 is more then enough to handheld. i just bury my compensation bar(or EV)..with both a Point & shoot and my dslr, tripod just gives a little better detail is all. and if you spot meter off the moon? your shutter speeds with jump too. allowing for a faster shot. at the least centerweight meter off it.
