There are two other entrances to this walled defence, & this is the North gate which is the main entrance connected to the road.

This was heavily fortified but became a gutted wreck after the 2nd attack in 1645 by Cromwells Parliamentary troops. I have one more jpg left to upload in this series which I think your like. (o:

Very nice photo of the ruins,very good clarity and very nice blue sky too.Your new avatar is nice,it seems to be the Flintstones but i could be wrong.

Wow, that's an impressive image. I so worry that it may come down at any moment, but it's probably been in this state for decades. You got some really nice views on the whole castle.

A great tour of this old castle Phil. I'm really enjoying these excellent images of the ruins. It's hard to believe they had weapons that would penetrate those thick walls back in 1645.

If I were to post a picture of ruins from around here, all you would see is a burned out house, or something along those lines. You have historic ruins all over the place. They make for great pictures...like this one. Very nice, Phil.
