These Ducks are quite interesting I've left some concise information below.

>This aptly named diving duck takes a new partner every year.

>Energy saver ? During dry spells females dump their eggs in the nests of other birds to conserve energy. Up to 87 Redhead eggs have been found in one nest !

>Up to three quarters of the population bred in the prairie pothole region of Canada, now drained for wheat production.

What a beauty! They are indeed such pretty birds. That is unfortunate about their habitat. Hopefully they have found other suitable places to breed.

She looks angry - probably was not allowed to drop off the eggs in someone else's nest. Pretty and sharp image Phil.

He is a handsome fellow and no wonder he takes a new mate each year. I think I will name him Brigham. Great clarity Phlossie. One of your very best.

Wow. I saw some of these beauties at ky lake in february. I'm not sure if they just migrate through, but I had never seen a duck like this until then. There were dozens of them, but they didn't stay around long.. Beautiful capture dear.

Great looking portrait of this wonderful looking duck. Somehow it looks as though it's not a duck to be trifled with.

Very pretty looking duck! They look a lot like canvasback. Too bad about their habitat I just hope that they will find another area to thrive. Great shot!
