This wading bird is new to my gallery, it was shot from a hide, & the camera lens was at maximum extension x30.

These birds are common to the British Isles, & most of the world where they are regularly found on coastlines, & marshland. Their diet in the UK mainly consists of mussels, cockles, & worms if inland.

Good post Phil but this bird is a bit confused as it does not seem to know the difference between Oysters and Rocks. Perhaps it's on a Diet.

Good clarity for full zoom, Phlossie.
Your camera is a keeper for sure.
I wouldn't want this bird for my waiter.

That's great detail for the zoom range!...Like all fixed zooms...a good steady hand (or window ledge) is good!

Nice one on the catcher Phil

I have tried to get closer but hey are very elusive. Nice image Phil. Good sharpness for a 30x zoom.

The image is so sharp considering the zoom. The colours are deep and clean. Does it know its head's on backwards?

I'd like his diet except for the worms! This is great detail for that zoom level - I never got that good with my Lumix zoom at 30x

That is a very clear and well taken photo!
I have only ever seen them walking along a beach.
We have 2 types in NZ, one similar to the European one and another called the Variable Oyster Catcher which is only found here.

My thanks to all who leave comments for my work and to those of you who like one enough to make it a favourite. To touch just one person that way makes each image worthwhile. . . . . . . . . .. . . . "The question is not what you look at, but what you see" ~ Marcel Proust
