Here you go ... with a suggested editing 'fix' as well, if desired:

"Fixing Pet Eye: No More Demon-Eyed Cats and Dogs!"

Alternatively, visit this image's page for some more suggestions (in the comments on that image's page) as to how to fix using "Picnik" (online photo editing service):

"Cleo"

In short, and to answer your question..

It's your camera's flash that is and in turn, causing Phoebe's eyes to reflect back that flash/light source. And given the differences in the rods and cones ... from that of our own human eyes ... you/we see 'green eye', instead of people 'red eye'. So..

Another suggestion is to turn off your camera's flash and try to find some suitable natural lighting. Which is usually much more complimentary to our four-legged friends. :o)

A nice closeup of your green-eyed monster coming out of its lair. Good details and clarity in your photo. The eyes can be fixed with most photo editing software.
