Personally I like this picture because of the sharpness in the middle and the rest is a bit vague, but that's my opinion please tell me what you think of it..
I agree with you. The sharp foreground against a vaque background is a primary rule of composition - "Simplify." When I want to isolate a foreground element in an image I do so by either positioning it against a blank background or in this case racking the f-stop down really far to 2.8 or something like that when I shoot it, and trying to decrease the distance between myself and the foreground element. This results in the depth of field being very shallow, and it allows the foreground element to be isolated as much as my camera will allow. Thanks for uploading this image.
