Happy Belated Birthday Mich!
I hope you had a wonderful day yesterday surrounded by family and friends.
I was on top of the river bank taking pictures of something in the distance when this guy peeked over the edge to say hello. He was eyeing my bread...what he didn't know was I brought it for him all along.

In order to discover who you are, first learn who everybody else is; you're what's left.

Kim - Terrific detail on this black swan. He's giving you the look of 'Hurry up and take the photo so I can get something to eat.' Very well done! Thad

By the sleepy look in his eyes, it looks like he overslept. Did he have a briefcase and tie when he left? You really did have an opportunity arise (no pun intended) for a great shot. Is that a snowbank at the bottom? I'm not sure if I wouldn't have cropped that out. I just enlarged it and held a paper over the snow and there's immediately a lot more emphasis put on his face and the tack-sharp quality of your photo. Something else to consider — by leaving the snow in the photo, it's obvious to the viewer that he was popping up from behind something. By removing the snow, the photo would look like you captured it from a lot more distance. Then everyone could say, "Gee Whiz, Kim! How ever did you get this close? You must have a million dollar lens or something. Neato!"... or... something like that... if they're a nerd like me. :D Outstanding wildlife photo.

This is super clear and very well presented. Excellent close up, Kim. It is squinting, like it's trying to get a better look at you.
