I was out for my long 3 hour morning walk down to the waterfront on the St. Mary's River and look what I came across. I was so excited when I spotted him and took lots of shots. This Common Loon swimming up the river so gracefully. They are such a beautiful bird and love to listen to them in the evenings, very haunty sounds and so relaxing at the same time. Its call has been alternately called "haunting," "beautiful," "thrilling," "mystical" and "enchanting. This is just a little sample of the many different sounds they make.
I loved the textures in the water & the reflection & rich colours of the river. He's also the Provincial bird of Ontario

Fantastic shot, I'm absolutely delighted to see this. Everything is great about this shot, the ripples created by the bird swimming, clarity of this picture, deep blue waters and of course your decision to keep the bird focused in the center. Immediately goes to my faves. Well done, great job Pat.

Ahhhh, my state's (Minnesota) official bird. Actually I've never seen one other than in images. They usually stay in the northern part of the state.

How impressive he is. My very best friend in Canada sent me an album called Loon Echo Lake a few years ago and I love it. Its basically just the noise of the loons on the lake with classical music in the background. Its very beautiful, like your picture.
