Greg (gjwahl) suggested that I crop out some people, a fence, and a distracting background building. I did so, and re-uploaded. Once again, the side of the Philadelphia Art Museum being brightly lit by the sun, with a contrasting sky behind. Now the question is... did I lose something by cropping?, or was it beneficial?

It's really all a matter of preferance Jeff but in my opinion Greg steered you right. The distractions to pull your eye away from the main subject are gone. I like this one better.

I saw this in the VB and loved it. In checking the origin post, I believe this is an improvement. Chain-link fences and power lines (etc.) may make an accurate representation, but they are rarely pleasing. Great post work.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, for me it's a tossup. I agree that this version is visually pleasing to the photographers eye. But...sometimes it is better to see an image in it's entirety. For visual impact cropping is beneficial, and I think you did a very good job on this one.

I know I'm late, but I'm going to drop a link in HERE so it's easier for people to compare.

I like the first one as it gives you a sense of the large view. I think the people give this perspective.
