I rarely desaturate an image. In most cases, I'll slightly raise the saturation to give the image a little more vibrance and bring out some brighter aspects of it. I felt the need to decrease the saturation on these rain-dampened flowers, and I enjoyed the result. I hope you do, too.

Jeff, this is such a good picture that you could do just about anything to it, and it would still look OK. The "faded" treatment, generally, isn't my cup of tea -- but I don't have any problem with the reduced saturation, because that always tends to bring out more fine details in an image. Color saturation can be fun, but it muddies the details. The upside of a presentation like this is that it's very malleable -- people can download it and then easily darken and/or saturate it, if they so desire, to suit their own tastes.

I love the fine shade brought out by the treatment. It makes the flowers more poignant. Lovely capture and composition.

I agree that you can't do much wrong with this one. Very nice. Although my personal preference on desaturation is if you're going to, do so considerably, not too far above B&W. It's more artful that way, the pastels. You could even add a light linear gradient from the upper left hand corner to give it that "dreamy" look.

I like the desaturation on this one. I think it brings out more detail in the raindrops.

This is a purrrfect pic. The details look great and the flowers look magnificent with the desaturation.
