A Shot taken in Night on macro mode (flash used) at my terrace. Dahlia is a genus of bushy, tuberous, perennial plants native to Mexico, Central America, and Colombia. You may also find them in India, especially Northern India, during months of January - March. There are at least 36 species of dahlia. Dahlia hybrids are commonly grown as garden plants. The dahlia is named after Swedish 18th-century botanist Anders Dahl. Dahlias grow naturally in climates which do not experience frost, consequently they are not adapted to withstand sub-zero temperatures. They grow in temperate climates.

Wow! The vibrant colors are great. flash-photography with flowers isn't used to often, but it can work well if done well, and you did this well. Maybe you could make the leaves in the background black&white? That might make the flower stand out even more. If you want to try this, Oloneo Photoengine works well. I was able to download it for free online. Anyways, very nice shot.

I can see how it might be possible for a man to look down upon earth and be an atheist, but I cannot conceive how he could look up into the heavens and say there is no God. - Abraham Lincoln

Direct flash usually creates harsh tones and shadows, but it does have it's uses. It might work better to let sunlight or artificial lighting that is more oblique illuminate the flower. You must be able to disable your flash on the camera that you use. The detail and focus on this lovely flower is very good and it has such nice hues.
