Shot taken from our hill shooting south east. As the crow flies, it's about 58 miles (according to google earth). I have never tried the digital zoom before. So this is a new and "I don't know what to say" take..... Not really clear but yet has something to say? Different, don't know if I'd trust it too much though...

Joe this is an awesome shot and I wonder if you had used a noise reduction and then a little bit of sharpening what it might have done for this beautiful scene. Perhaps you could give it a try and do another posting of it, if it worked.

Great eye for capturing the colors on the mountain! one thing that I find wrong (in my opinion) is that there isn't a lot of contrast between the mountain and the sky. I know there isnt a lot you can do about it, I just wanted to voice my opinion.

I agree ^. Try a noise reduction program like NeatImage (they have a free home use version) for the noise and I'm sure you will be amazed at what it does for the post. Digital zoom tends to increase noise and reduce sharpness. If you are in a situation where you are tempted to use digital zoom, do that, but also back it off to the top end of the optical focus and see if you can crop it to bring it in closer. Having said all that , the composition is terrific and it does indeed 'say something' as is!

I agree with all said here. Beautiful shot that perhaps can be even more beautiful.

The lighting on that mountain too is amazing. It must have been sunset? It is hard to believe that it is 58 miles away.
