Glad my link to the frequently used progs was useful and see you`ve went with Terragen. I had a look at your other one and two very good attempts. Where you generate the terrain in the landscape tab, if you get your terrain, then below where it says surface map, click open, and you will get some default surface maps, this will give you an idea of how you can add your own grass, snow, sand or whatever in your terrains. Also on the view/sculpt button hit that then select a small brush then paint over and dab areas in the area your viewing and this will give you more rocky textures and make your landscape more realistic. Hope this helps.
