The sun is truly beautiful, but not to be looked at directly. It's rays can damage your camera's sensor too if you take a direct shot of the sun. Rather, use a filter (kind of like sunglasses for our eyes) in front of your lens to cut down on the light entering your camera and shoot away from the sun or let an element in the shot block a good deal of it's most brilliant light. Keep shooting. It would be great to see what else you find of interest in your neighborhood, house, town, etc. Practice is the key. Hope to see more of your shots.
