It's HUGE! This fungus is about as big as a basketball, and was found growing on a stump when I went mushroom hunting in my local park.

Great find! This is rather large indeed. Notice the small Mycena to the upper left.

Very nice. Good lighting with great detail and contrasts. I too noticed the teeny tiny Mycena. Nice capture of it's thriving environment.

James stated that it's the size of a Basketball, so i'm guessing that the Mycena is not so small. Verena, Mycena are a common type of gilled Fungi, sloped caps, straight stems. There are a few great examples on this site to give you an idea. Look up, Neamh, Mayne, Paul_Gerritsen, Stormdancer, Cameraatje, Heidlerr, etc...

You can see the size of the Mycena in comparison to the dried pine beside it. I would still call that tiny. Especially in comparison this monster. I came back to save this one. ;)
