On this note, your accompanying narrative fleshes out your creative aim ... and yes, some tension is indeed introduced.
Curious if you would be interested in gracing us with a B & W version? Have the thought that perhaps B & W might also achieve the same desired creative goal?
I do note that you make mention that the staircase is that of a 'plain gray', easily compensated for I believe in post processing.
Caveats?
Some areas are overexposed/blown out ... slightly. Perhaps and ergo, the suggestion/request above ... a B & W conversion as opposed to that of an HDR treatment might be easier to tame in editing?
