A very dramatic photo, but I think I would have named it something more like "There's always Hope" or maybe "There can
be Comfort"....I find the title just much too negative. The photo is excellent. The show of textures very good. Verena

May your walls know joy; May every room hold laughter and every window open to great possibility.

The title reflects the despair and desolation felt by this person and photographer, and way too many others, in this city. Unfortunately, due to the temperate winter climate of Victoria, we end up with an inordinate amount of transients from other parts of Canada. I feel this is a good example of that desperation felt by so many.

Great shot J.D.. You seem very good at capturing such emotion. The B&W adds to this effect. Great job.

I agree with Billy that the B&W adds to the overall effect. It is so simple but speaks so many words. Well done!

My goodness! The b&w really brings this picture home to you, a wonderful shot indeed. I think this has to be my personal favourite of all yours so far. I hope his fortunes turn around really soon. Excellent work x

Why do the pictures come out square when the lens is round??

-Saw it in the booth, loved it and had to comment!-

I'm not sure what camera you used but the quality of the image is not the best. That's the only negative comment I have. Onto the other stuff..

This is a fantastic photo. I really like the compositon.. I like the position your subject is in. I love the black and white. I really think this shot would be well-worth recreating. I would love to see the same shot with a stronger camera and if you can't find an actual homeless person to recreate the shot i think getting a friend to dress and pose in this same position would be fantastic and would capture the essence of this shot wonderfully. Again, a wonderful capture and I hope to see it re-created. Very nicely done!

i think this is terrific. it's frustrating when good shots get scores like this. people pictures have a tough time. i hardly ever do them anymore because of the reception they get. when i say that it makes me sound like a wimp! don't you do that!!! jen
