this is a bordered photograph of a hawaiian monk seal. when they are tired they come up on the beach to rest. people are forbidden to go near or touch them. worriers often think they are sick or dead but this is not the case. they are very special endangered animals.

Hi jen. This is very cute. I can almost see a smile on the seals face :) Indeed these creatures should be protected for the sake of environment and its balance.

What a great capture Jen.......thank you for the interesting facts as well that you gave us in your comment. I would imagine that the sand is very warm from the sun and the seals find that quite attractive to just lie there and bask in the sunlight and warm sand. The expression on the face of these darling creatures is priceless. Thank you for sharing that with us :~)
