This oyster watch house recalls the era when oysters from the Eastern Shore of Chesapeake Bay were so prized for their salty flavor they needed protection from poachers. i understand that people who poached and got caught by the particular person watching from the house received serious punishment.

Lovely shot, Jen. Looks isolated, even lonely, but still has a lived in look, somehow. Nice presentation.

A lovely & clear shot. I really like the weathered look of the house & how the netting is draped around pier. I just love old houses & buildings from a different time & era. Looks like avery peaceful place. Excellent work.

Beautiful capture Jen! Such a crisp clear image on an obviously beautiful day. I had no idea such places existed, how interesting. Looks like it would make a wonderful get-away place today. Lovely!

Interesting and informative commentary jeenie. I have had some oysters from that area years ago. They were good. I like the oyster house. It is quaint, clear and sharp. The obviously moving water gives life to the composition. The lkight green grasses gives it the shot of bright color that it needs. Good, informative capture.

the thing with the house is that if you saw a grand shot of the area you would see lots of these oyster houses. i think the poachers woulld sneak in at night so all the people who owned and worked the beds paid attention. thanks for the kind words. jen

This shot is perfect Jen. Ur skills are improving day by day and that very good. The dreamy sky combined with this old structure by the water creates majic. Well focused and composed with good white balance.

This is a very nice picture with an interesting background. I used to travel up and down the eastern shore between Norfolk and New Jersey and never had time to poke around off the main highway. Thanks for the history lesson. Great desktop too.

What a catch Jen...glad it isn't oysters you caught...there would be serious punishment! lolol...what a great story behind this house. I never knew that places like this existed although it makes perfectly good sense to me now that you said it. You have excellent color, high quality, fine clarity and the composition is spot on girlfriend. Very well done image. It is an eye-catcher for sure. Thanks for visiting ~evening delight~. The redbud tree is plentiful in Missouri. In the springtime, when you are driving, they are everywhere. They primarily grow along the front edges of woods so when on the highway, they are extremely abundant. We know Spring is here when the redbud bloom. Such a unique color they are also. I am glad that you enjoyed them. Your continued support, comments and critique are deeply appreciated Jen. :~)

this also looks like the lake front out in west Chalmet of New Orleans. The opposing direction from the amusment park in Ponchatrain park. There are many old and delapadated, but plenty that are lived-in and kept up. (Lots of clams)
