the sun is behind me. at the top of the page you see a long narrow piece of land. the top is called princeville. between it and the area where i am is hanalei bay. that's where the sailboat was (and still is). thanks so much for any comments, suggestions or questions you might have.

Thanks Jeenie, for all your posts, you bring us so much beauty with such far away places, that most of us will never see. This is what's so great about Caedes. Peace and happiness to you and yours, Dwight.

Oh, we need the sailboat update. Our interest has not wained. It looks like a rainy day and rough waves. Good photo.

A very interesting beach with those large boulders. They look volcanic in nature. Lovely photo.

Magnificant Jennifer and I stood right there when I was in Kauai and it was awesome. You've captured this scene beautifully with lovely colors and the wonderful sunset. I love the depth of the rocks and the feeling of quiet that you've presented. It's an excellent post and I sure thank you for bringing back those good memories.

Great image Jen. I'm intruiged by how the sea itself is a bit choppy while the tide pool is as calm as glass. I bet Cindy is right and these are volcanic issue?

The name ChuPat is derived from my nickname Chuck and my wife of 34 years name Patti. Her photography will appear on Caedes as well from time to time. I consider myself an advanced amature not anyway close to being a professional. I have just taken photography more seriously since I have switched to digital. My profession has always been associated with pohtography in one way or another. Any criticism I receive will be well appreciated.

It's so beautiful a scene, so peaceful, it's hard to believe that anywhere on earth could be so perfect. I felt like I was looking at a fairy tale when I first viewed it. The volcanic rocks make such interesting patterns as they are contrasted against the rich sand. I can't decide what to call that color, then off to the right, again, not losing a bit in intensity of color are the greenery. And the water, so violent and choppy out on the left side of the composition is in such a contrast to the soothingly calm water that lays right in front of us. I feel like I can't begin to describe this in any accurate detail..so I'll just go back and look at it some more :)PJ in my faves :)

I'm not sure why you called it "Sunset"? But, this is a great shoreline picture!! The textures of rock and sand are excellent as is the clear water disecting the beach from sea! Very crisp and clear too.
Excellent work :D

This is a wonderful shot Jen. I love the composition and how the stuff fill in the canvas. Since you have got things almost perfect I will go a step further to show out few areas to improve.

The water near you can be improved by using a polarizor. There are good details under the shallow water which needs to be enhanced. Even now a little touch up with a burn tool in PS can help.

The big rock on the left side is underexposed and bit out of focus. Try some shapening and lightening it up to give a balance to the exposure over all.

Thats about it. Great work Jen.

This is just beautiful Jen - I added it to my desktop immediately. I took a deep breathe when I saw it because of it's beauty. The only change I would make and this is nothing to do with the photo is to make it so it fills my whole screen by cropping a little from the side and removing the black border. wonderful job my friend! :) Patti

This is a good one Jen. I think the low angle you chose does a lot to emphasize the textures of the lava and the sand and the contrast between the still water close to shore and the choppy surface further out beyond the rocks.
