look a little left and a little below center. you can see some buildings. they are known as phantom ranch. when people hike the canyon they want to spend the night at this place. reservations must be made far far in advance. when traveling the river one goes from right to left. hidden by the mountain is where they park the boats. then the hikers walk up to the cabins. soon, i'll post another shot that i took with a big lens and you'll see it better. i would suggest viewing this full frame so you can see the buildings. thanks IN ADVANCE for any comments. enjoy!

What an amazing crater like terrain and what an adventure it would be to take the trip here to spend the night. Thanks so much for allowing us to view such a glorious landscape. Amazing shot, Jen!

You will be led to the knowledge of the internal things which are invisible to you, by the external things which you see before you. . . . Even so then, we can represent to ourselves in thought the Author of all that is, by contemplating and admiring the (visible) things which He has made, and ever brings into being. - Hermes

This shot really brings back memories. Quite a few years ago my husband and I took the mule trip down and stayed in one of the cabins. We liked it so much we came back another year and backpacked across from the South Rim to the North Rim and back again. Then a few years later we took the dory trip down the river. All just amazing and wonderful.

You're breaking my heart. I lived close to here while working at the Grand Canyon as a tour bus driver. :) Thanks for sharing.
