there are many photographs of oregon's haystack rock. these 2 large monoliths just south of haystack are known as the needles. i took this photo because i was intrigued by the marine layer that covered everything. it was different than fog. it was sunny. the marine layer was like a localized heavy fog. it was so interesting. thanks in advance for any comments. ENJOY!

Another great shot of the Needles WC. It looks like fog and I bet it felt like fog. You have presented it very well. They look like tombstones.

Yup, I love that too. And how part of the rocks still show up.
Looks like you just keep heading North eh? You ought to take a drive on the beach at Gearhart, it's lovely there. There's a tiny little restaurant that has the BEST food and the BEST coffee!! It's called Pacific Way and you can't miss it, it's at the only four way stop in the middle of taht tiny town. Try it. That's where there's an entrance to the beach too.
I'm sure you are enjoying the weather. I love the photos you've been posting of course. Hope you get to go up to Ecola State Park and Indian Head BEach, it's right there in Canon Beach...keep us posted. Verena

Jen - The marine layer, or fog, gives the photo a suspenseful feel. The waves are muted. The smaller rocks are barely visible in the fog, with the tips of the needles barely tall enough to be seen clearly, their tips in the sunlight. A terrific photo! Thad

Excellent shot! Easy to see how a ship could smack into such formations.

Love the mood of this capture Jen. It was foggy here this morning while I was having my coffee. This would be a fabulous picture to hang on a wall

Good desk top in it's own right. No one can complain about not being able to see their desktop icons.

One of the ways I determine a good to great photograph is: Does the photographer capture something in a way that either lets me be there or wish I had been there. You've done this quite well. Thanks for allowing me to be there.
