This is a very large bird that preys on penguin chicks, eggs, carrion and anything it can get to eat. There were many of these everywhere we went. Here's some Wikipedia info: "This is the heaviest species of skua and rivals the largest gulls as the heaviest species in the shorebird order although not in length or wingspan. It is 5264 cm (2025 in) in length, 126160 cm (5063 in) in wingspan and has a body mass of 1.22.13 kg (2.64.7 lb).[2][3]. At one point, I must have gotten too close to a nest because one of these swooped down (about 2 feet over my head) and scared me to death. I threw my free arm up in the air and got the heck out of there. Anyway, I liked the coloration of the wings. Thanks for taking a look. ENJOY!
