I really like this image. Your decision to use a very shallow depth of field made this image work.
Keep it up and just what is your "poor man's macro technique"?
I removed the lens from my DSLR and used an old 35 mm camera lens, opened aperture all the way, and held the lens, inverted, up to the body of the camera. Focusing is achieved by moving your body closer/farther from the subject. I only used an old lens because it would open up wider than my new kit lens.
I did not know that could be done.........I've got all my old lenses, and only my telephoto and filters since my swap to digital. I will be playing around to see what kind of effects I can find with such a hybrid. I love how quickly this plane of focus moves from the center to the feather soft glow of yellow.
