This is my Wacky Wednesday contribution!!! Last year I had the privilege to see this Eastern Gray Squirrel with a blonde tail in my backyard. The tail looks as though this guy stuck his tail in a bottle of L'Oreal Light Ash Blonde hair coloring. Did some research and the blonde tail comes down to pigmentation and hereditary units - the genes. "Blondie" stayed in the area for about two weeks then was gone. I consider myself lucky to get a picture. Enjoy!!!

This is a first for me. I didn't even know this kind of squirrel existed. I love that blonde tail. Great looking shot, Laura.

Well isn't that something...never seen one like this before...certainly a 'pony-tail' to be envied by the other squirrels...good for you capturing this rare sight.

Wow...a blonde tailed squirrel!....Never knew of those!...

I can visualise this being like a 'pony-tail' (English word) on a blonde girl!...

Looks like she!..is giving you all her attention too!...

This is definitely a female Laura. The tail is tastefully coloured - not too much, not too little. Vry nice find and capture!

Laura - I think this squirrel is nuts, or going after some, at least. Some years ago, a friend had a squirrel running on his roof and rain gutters, waking the family up every morning in the wee hours as it scurried for acorns and ate them noisily in the gutter. Being a gentle soul, my friend put a have-a-heart trap on the roof, captured the squirrel and took it four miles to the banks of the river to free it. Of course, that night, a squirrel was on the roof and in the rain gutters. He trapped it, brought it to the river bank and freed it. After five or six days of this, he started to think the squirrel was looking very familiar. So, on the next morning, with the squirrel in the cage, he spray painted the tail bright orange, and repeated the trip to the river. Sure enough, there was the orange tailed squirrel in his have-a-heart trap the next day. The little squirrel traveled the four miles each day, returning to its home, to be trapped again and again. That day, the squirrel was transported across the river and freed, likely to torment a family in a new house - but with a bright orange tail.

Thad's tale was very interesting. It sounds like something a Blonde Tailed squirrel would do--keep getting caught in the same trap.
I wonder if it sings "Happy Birthday Mr. President," to the leader of the homeowners association.

I loved Thad's story about the squirrel - LOL. This is so unique Laura - I've seen black and albino squirrels but never one like this - excellent and enlightening capture.
