This guy, the Blue Heron, came down to Geese Pond last week looking for a bite. He was very tame and I was able to get as close as four feet from him. He watched the pond waiting for a fish but was not successful. Later I saw him at another location on the fringe of the pond still looking for his catch. I continued on my way and hope a nice fish came his way. (Best viewed full screen). Enjoy!!!!!!!

Anytime I try to approach a heron, they are easily spooked and fly away. I had the same reaction from women when I was dating! This one must have been super hungry and focused on the hunt. Well done, Laura.

Amazing Laura, as herons are in common very shy. It can be that starving has changed its attitude.
If the pond is empty, you have to pay a visit to a fish market now, my friend, lol.

Anyhow an amazing and excellent shot!

Great shot! The great blue herons down here are much larger about 5 feet tall and love to pose for the camera. Most of the time they will walk into the shot just to get their picture taken, but that's my experience.

A good capture of this heron, Laura. Ours here are skittish and take to the skies if You get close with a camera. The surrounding leaves and foliage add to the interest for the viewer in Your photo.

So close! that is unusual. Probably this heron is used to people coming close. Nice an clear shot with fallen leaves as decoration Laura.

You capture him in a beautiful setting. I'd like to see it cropped a little tighter to remove the tree on the left. It fights for attention. I've zoomed in on it and it looks great. Nice shot.

I've also found them to be very skittish Laura - you were lucky - too bad you didn't have a spare trout in hand!
