Yesterday, September 22, was designated as National Voter Registration Day and what a better way to commemorate that day (although I am a day late) than to visit Paulsdale, Alice Paul's birthplace and childhood home. She was a women's activist and fought diligently for the right of women to vote - Paulsdale was designated a National Historic Landmark in December 4, 1991.

Alice Paul's house was built in 1800 - the architect was Benjamin Hooton - the architectural style is Greek Revival.

Laura, in this day and age, one may wonder why it took so long for women to have the right to vote. In the present time, there are still tricky issues that require a solution. In decades to come, people may also wonder why it took so long before they were resolved. That in itself would be a sign of progress. I keep hoping. Use your right to vote! It can be helpful!
Beautiful and appropriate capture.

It looks like a beacon of light through the shadows Laura. Well photographed.
I was not familiar with Alice Paul and her role in getting women the right to vote. Thanks for making me aware.

We all need to get out and vote this year.
