One of my best friends. I'm trying to find people willing to pose for their portrait.

La douce Dorothée aux yeux "amandes", aux dents "cheese", aux mèches en bandeaux...pas mal, pas mal. La photo est réussie, Dorothée est sirupeuse. Who's next??

Well, as lovely as she is, I can understand why she wouldn't mind having her portrait taken. You did a really nice job on it, and I'm sure she'll treasure it for many years to come.

Hi Jess,
One Tip, go to people you love to take an image of, show them your current portraits, they will be standing in rows to have their image taken by you, (~8 8~)
About the image, there are two concerns I'd like to point out, your flash reflects in her eyes, I find that a bit annoying and it is easily fixed (copy/paste other parts of black), it looks like you have softened her skin quite a bit, if you soften the skin, duplicate the parts you want to soften into a new layer, after you have softened, set it to 50 - 60 % optically, I find copy/past clean skin works way better than blurring (BTW; Glossy magazines don't use blur, they use copy/paste and other techniques, this way you don't lose skin texture (~8),
Other than that it looks very nice great pose, smile, nice use of B&W, love it a lot,
Nicely done,

Thanks for sharing
Warm regards
Tim

PS; Regards to Dorothée for posing and being une fille fabuleuse, (and for being your best friend of course, (~8 8~))

If I was HALF that good looking, I would happily pose too!!!

Jess, this is a great portrait shot of a real pretty lady, I really think the simple plain white border was a wise choice too. Great work on this one.

Nice focus, but i think your lighting and framing could use a little work.. it bothers me how her chin is cut off, and the lighting is direct and hard. u might want to try a little wider framing and a side light and backlight rather than flash..
