I gotta say that I was a little surprised to see that the c-index is a 39 at the time of this posting. I would appreciate a little constructive criticism to learn what is so bad about this image.
update: The consensus is that there is a lack of focal point. Fair enough. Thanks for the honest and kind comments alike. The c-index isn't quite so bad now... ;)
'ello! Maybe it's just no capturing the eye well enough? To put my critical eye in, I think the picture is a bit unbalanced with no particular great focal point. I think individual elements are really nice - the climbing plant up the pillar is beautiful, and the sunlight on it is good as well, that bit of sky shows some promise. But - the sign is held up by that green pole and the step intrude on the background. I thin that I want to see more - maybe a landscape shot instead of a portrait? to show what's to the right of the pillar. Is that Ok? I don't like being down on a picture :o(
Well, if I may weigh in here... I like the composition and I've found that portrait sized photos don't do as well, but as an artist I do know that sometimes that's the only way to take a scene. I would have given this a 9 if I had had the opportunity to see it in the voting booth.
