The light shining on the flower seems too bright and really doesn't preserve the pink - try either darkening the flower with any image edit program or take the shot in the morning or evening when there's less light. Also a bit of the petal on the far right is cut-off and that petal on the left should be out of the shot. The detail seems fairly good on this one though and this definitely has a lot of potential!

I redid this shot with a few of the edits you recommended hernoor. There was some distortion, but not too much. Thanks and I hope you like it a bit more!

lighting is kind of harsh, like, 12noon ... good for shootouts in old west towns, bad for flower photography

If you're in the mood for other nitpicks .. ;o) .. composition: .. I like that the subject is off-center but the dead grass and intruding petal should all be replaced with soft greens and shadow

Pretty flower, however I wish the pink were as bright as the yellow. The center makes the petals appear a bit washed out... probably due to the lighting, as Keif mentioned above. Also, I would have like to see the other stray petal (on left) cropped or manipulated out. It seems out of place. I do like the green grass and straw like texture in the background.
