The image is wonderful, but since I am no expert at portraits I can't offer any advice other than maybe there is some way to get the pink sheen off of her cheeks and her teeth. I like the way you have presented this with part of her face out of the frame. The clarity is really nice too. Good to see you back again.

Look at those pupils! At least they're Equal and Round. Reactive to Light and Accommodation? Maybe she is on some anticholinergics? Nicely done nonetheless, exposed well.

I have no real idea either so take this with some caution. The background is way too bright, the shadows in the hair are too deep. I like the close up and cropped look with the face angle. If you are going to get this close it is probably better if you really let the subject prepare themselves, even out their eye lashes etc as every small detail will show. I am sure there is some information on the good old internet about how to do this well. Having said all this, I do like this picture, it shows your imaginative approach to photography, and I look forward to many more portraits.

Hey Emily,
As you would like to improve on portraits, I'll give you some tips, (~8

I suspect you used a wide angle here (zoomed out), it might improve some parts of your friend that you do not wish to have improved/distorted, to make your portraits look nice to look at (not that this one isn't (~8), use as much tele as you can get (zoom all the way in),

I can see some oversaturated/harsh lighted parts, to give your friend gorgeous skin, you need to have very soft light, try to avoid each direct light source; never use direct flash, no direct sunlight, no direct light bulbs, with direct I mean they should not shine onto her face, but rather onto walls,... around that reflect soft light onto her face,
I can highly recommend placing your friend in the shade, it worked wonderfully for me,

Other tips; desaturate a bit, focus on the eyes, look at fashion books, (~8, and have fun,... lots of fun,
8~)

Hope I could help

Thanks for sharing
Kind♥regards
Tim

This picture is very well taken. That said, the bright background, and some other things I can't quite put my finger on, do make it a bit overwhelming. Great job though! Keep it up!

I really like the composition of this portrait shot! You can even see the sparkle around her eyes. I think I'd like to see it in B+W as well for a more natural look.
