This is the East Front of the U.S. Capitol building in Washington, DC, which I took on a frigid but bright January morning. It shows the white marble frieze, the dome with the statue of Freedom at top, and a flag set in front of a royal blue sky. The red in the flag rounds out the national colors. This photo seems to evoke passion in some -- On Panoramio, a commenter from Serbia said it is a shame on the U.S., which he called "prokleta zemlja." But I will not title the photo that.

I wonder what the people inside that building are doing! Love this shot! I've never been there! I wonder how it looks like for real!

What an absolutely beautiful picture of the Capitol Dome! I've seen this building many, many times and have been in it once or twice. What are they doing in there? Don't ask! I love the detail in this picture and that the colors are brought out so beautifully...from the blue-green on the statue on top of the dome to the golden scales of justice in the foreground. I don't know if "Adjust Photographer's Angle" in Photoshop would have helped the slight list up on the left side of the horizontal or not, and, in truth I don't think it matters one bit because of the angle of the shot as a whole. Very nice pic! Thanks!

Oh why thank you for not titling it that. If this were Tienanmen square, you'd likely not have this photo on the site because they would have seized your camera. I can't imagine why he said it is a shame on the U.S. Shish. Great capture though. Your angle and exposure is perfect. I've never seen it in such detail, as I have never traveled to DC. Good work!

Thanks, all. To sharonva: Almost every picture I've taken my entire photographic life has leaned to the left, I think because the shutter buttons on cameras are always on the right and I press down too hard. I regularly have to Photoshop into something more even keel. I didn't even notice a slant on this one. The line on the building looks more or less straight; if anything, it leans slightly left. So it seemed natural to me for the flagpole and dome to lean as they want! Also to joeysparadise: It gives me great pleasure to read the words "exposure is perfect." My photos are never so, and for this one Photoshop had nothing to add.
