Well, here we are! Benton Lutheran Church in rural Crooks,SD. This church was founded way back in the late 1800's before SD was even a state. You could almost call this the little church that could. lol It burned down at one point and was rebuilt. The bell from the old church cracked in the fire & is still displayed on the back lawn. It has since survived many storms & as recently as a couple years ago just missed being destroyed by a tornado which took many of the trees that surrounded it. It had quite a bit of water damage from the roof & some windows being blown off. While I am no longer a member here it brings back many memories. I was baptised here, my parents & their parents were married here, and my grandparents as well as many of my relatives are buried in the cemetary here. My Grandma was even a lifetime member from her birth to her death. A lot of happy times & some sad ones. One of these days I hope to get pics. of the beautiful stained glass windows in it & post them here as well. This church will always hold a special place in my heart!! THANKS everyone for coming along on the ride with me to my Little Church on the Prairie!!

What a pretty church Dan. I love the shingles on it with the different colors. So glad it holds a lot of memories for you and that it will always hold a special place in your heart because of your family and you having gone there for years. Thanks for sharing this with us Dan- how nice of you to share a part of your life with us.
