I caught these two Percheron stock horses standing out in a pasture last weekend. They are gorgeous horses. Although not overly tall, normally 14-16.5 hands high , they are built stocky, & are very strong. They have a broad chest and a squareish shaped nose. Early on these were the horses of choice to carry knights into battle. In more recent times they were relegated to agricultural duty pulling wagons, plows, etc.

Beautiful horses Dan! I really like these big horses - they always seem to be very gentle too! I like the way you have framed them with the dark shadow round the edge - very effective! Patti

Good job of showcasing these beauties Dan. Are these a draft horse? They seem to have some of the qualities from what I can tell. They remind me of the Clydesdales that I am so familiar with being here in St. Louis where they are raised, but these seem a bit smaller....actually quite a bit smaller in hand height! Good capture. Beautiful lighting on this pair as well. Thanks for sharing them with us :~)

It looks like they are doing some kind of dance. They are lovely horses, but most horses are. I like the way you have spotlighted them.

A great shot Dan ... I love these horse's. Several people raise Percherons in the area I live in and also my hometown hosts a couple horse show's a year. Like you said they are strong animals .. truly amazing. I love the spotlight framing you used. Great job.

We don't have too many horses like this where I live although I have seen a few. You're right, they are quite stocky aren't they?. Wonder if they're related to Clydesdales somewhere down the line with the long hair around their hooves?. I like how you've given them the spotlight Dan. They deserve it for all the hard work their breed has had to endure .
