This old rail road bridge is now part of the city's bike trail. I read a plaque on it stating it was built back in 1934. The bike trail crosses the Big Sioux River here nest to Riverdale Park. This is on the opposite side of town from my previous post of the river. HERE Thanks for stopping by!!

Okay...we're here..let' s cross :) ...I'm going to start by looking at the shadows that are the foundation for all the wonderful angles you've captured. For instance, at our feet begin the long shadows of the rungs of the bridge that also serve double duty by showing a great depth of field as they run down to the other end of the bridge in not exactly straight, but wavering and sometimes broken lines. The shadows from the trees on the right create a virtual cross hatching of light against the stronger shadow of the bridge which points up a lovely contrast that is captivating. And speaking of contrasts: there's the intricate metal work in the structure of the rusty iron bridge placed among the natural woodwork frame of the trees, contrasting with the smoothness of the planks, manmade to a serviceable path. To top the whole of the upload off, it is tickled by the light yellow/greens of the foliage. I'm on the other side now in the bright field, and I'm ready to start all over again. Wonderful clarity, composition and...well, it set my mind on a fantasy walk...... :)PJ

Very well done Dan. The bridge and trail appear to go out to infinity. The colors are beautiful this time of year too.

Great image Dan ... I like the depth I sense looking through the bridge. Nice job on this. The fact that the bridge was built the same year I was born in no way influenced my comment :o)

I really like this picture. It's a great shot of an mystic scenery. But I think it's not sharp enough, and it's too much over-light.. But great shot anyway!
