October..time to bring in the corn crop from the fields. Soon there will be yellow mountains of corn sitting at the area elevators waiting to be dried & stored. Eventually it will be shipped out by truck or rail heading to parts unknown...even exported overseas. Who knows, this may become cornflakes on your breakfast table someday!

A great shot Dan ... amazing clarity & detail. Hopefully the corn on my land will be harvested next week before opening day of shotgun deer season. Have to make those hunter's happy also ... it's not easy tracking a deer through a corn field. LOL. Fantastic work here neighbor.

The golden wheat in the front reminded me of stories my Dad told of working the thrashers up in North (not South) Dakota during the summer while he was going to college in Wheaton Ill. I guess he and others used to hitchhike up there to work. Not that that could be done today, but I imagine that the days of his time looked somewhat like this with the bright skies and harvest..very clearly taken pictures, and I'm so glad you saved those pennies for that new equipment. It's just great, Dan. :)PJ

This is beautiful, Dan and it tells a wonderful story about how great it is that there are people who devote their lives to raising crops and farming so the rest of us can eat. A beautiful, colorful capture!

This image brings back some great memories, old & new Dan! I love the way you captured the smoke/dust from the combine as it grinds it's way through the cornfields. My Uncle did this for many years and it always made me feel good, like something was being accomplished. I think a lot has to do with the color that the cornstalks are by the time they are harvested...the warm golden shade of sun. It brightens my mood as does this image. I am going to put it in my favorites folder on my hard drive and thank you for sharing it with me '=)

That's a refreshing capture, Dan. I like the dust from the cornbinder blowing out the back end. I get the impression it must have been a chilly day. The driver looks bundled up. Great harvest capture.

Man you can almost feel the dust of the field fall down on ya. I think this is a great image that really depicts what the rual life is like. Lighting and angle are good and the imergence into the corn stalks gives it life with the dust cloud. More memories. Gee, I think I've got some corn stuck in my teeth too!. Jodie

We were driving this weekend and saw all of this going on - even the mountains of corn being piled high. Great capture of this fall harvest.

Hi Dan, I love this image, as I adore the gorgeous tones of the wheat with the blue tones of the sky, just great! I am just wondering how much fun it would be to run throught that marvelous newly harvested wheat, what a blast that would be! I will catch the next flight out for some of that Dakota fresh corn!!!! About those corn flakes Dan, the next time I enjoy them, I will think of that handsome Dude from the Dakotas, the friendly guy that always remembered to leave sweet words on my images, and in particular your last comments on 'Condola', 'Orchid Hearts' and 'Contemplation', thanks so very much Dan for the attention given my work, it is so appreciated!!!! Sincerely, Marilyn
